getting there
Milan's International Airport (MXP) is the closest airport to Lake Como. It's about 45 minutes to an hour away by car, or just over an hour by train.
If you are flying in from elsewhere in Europe, there is also a smaller domestic airport in Milan (Linate Airport) which is about an hour away by car. Other airport options include Florence (approx. 4 hours to Lake Como by car), or Rome (approx. 7 hours to Como by car). Please visit Malpensa airport website here for more information on rental cars.
train
There is a train, the Malpensa Express, that is available to take from the Milan Malpensa airport into the town of Como. The train starts from both terminals and gets to Saronno train station in ~20 minutes, from which you can transfer to another train to Como Nord Lago station. There is not a train system that can be used to get around the Lake Como area.
taxis & ubers
Please note that taxis are very limited in Lake Como and ride sharing apps are not available. Taxis are available from the Milan airport to get into Lake Como.
